Unusual vintage handmade Greek Orthodox religious folk-art shrine displayed entirely inside a clear glass bottle. The interior features a detailed Crucifixion scene with Jesus Christ on the cross, surrounding figures, staffs/spears, colorful decorative elements and cotton-like material forming the base.
The underside contains an old Greek religious calendar fragment showing the date 12 and text referring to St. Spyridon, Bishop of Trimythous, whose Orthodox feast day is December 12. This provides a particularly interesting Greek Orthodox connection to the piece.
