Rare vintage piece of primitive art hand painted and signed by Phoebus, Virginia artist Capt Harold. Carved wooden cutout of Grandview Hotel in Virginia. Typed label on rear. Probably from the 1980’s. Carved wood hotel building shaped cutout measures 3/4” thick. Is 5 5/8” high over and is 9 3/4” wide at widest point. Appears to be some sort of acrylic or oil paint. Painted on one side as shown, Primitive style. Signed “Capt Harold” in lower corner as shown. This artist from Phoebus, Virginia was known for nautical and shoreline inspired art often done on reclaimed materials. Minor age-related wear commensurate with age (chips st corners, etc.) Darkened in areas. Beautiful shelf sitter. Detailed. Rare. As shown.
