Yes, it is completely normal for original Generation 2 Ghostface masks from 1997 to have face blemishes, smudges, and minor discolorations.
• Manufacturing Imperfections: Mass-produced in the 1990s as cheap Halloween novelties (part of the Fantastic Faces and Fearsome Faces lines), these masks suffered from rushed factory painting, uneven PVC vinyl mixtures, and visible mold scarring. Small black paint smudges near the mouth, stray color marks, and slight indentations are common right out of the factory.
• Aging and Discoloration: Because they are made of soft PVC vinyl rather than latex, vintage 1997 masks naturally develop a cream or off-white patina over time. Many accumulate small yellow or brown age spots-particularly around the eyes and edges-due to how the original plastic components react as they age.
Despite being new-old-stock with the tag attached, the vinyl face exhibits the classic "brown spotting/bleeding" dots common to the 1997 PVC compound. This is an entirely natural, inevitable chemical aging process from the original factory plasticizer and is viewed by enthusiasts as a hallmark of 90s authenticity. The vinyl remains perfectly floppy and flexible. Please review all photos closely to inspect tag condition and dot placement. Can be reshaped using a hair dryer
