Vintage Enchanted Forest Metal Souvenir Mug \"Playland of the Indiana Dunes\" Defunct Amusement Park It measures 2 3/4” tall x 3 1/2” wide. Fun colorful graphics. Some wear to the insides but outer colorful area is very decent considering this most likely dates to the 1970\'s. This park was located on 35 acres just north of Chesterton, Indiana on US 20. I actually went there as child. (I am 65 years old and grew up in Valparaiso, Indiana, which was 20 minutes away from Chesterton) It opened in 1957 and it closed in 1991. It features story book characters using live animals to portray them, a Santa\'s workshop, arcades and rides including a steel roller coaster, which at that time was rare. Most were made of wood. Great piece of nostalgia from another defunct amusement park from days gone by.
