He measures 10\" tall in a seated position and is new with tags and a plastic medallion on his ear that says \"100th Anniversary\" on it. This plush teddy bear commemorates the 100th anniversary of \"The Teddy Bear\". The story is that on a hunting trip President Theodore \"Teddy \" Roosevelt was trying to bag a bear but had no luck that day. The guys in the hunting party saw his disappointment and decided to catch a bear cub, tied it to a tree and wanted Roosevelt to shoot it, but he refused and ordered the cub to be set free. Days later, a newspaper cartoon artist heard the story and published a cartoon in the paper depicting the event. A store owner in N.Y. saw the cartoon and decided to make a stuffed bear commemorating the event. He then contacted Roosevelt to ask for his permission to name the new bear creation \"Teddy\". Permission was granted and from that day forward most all stuffed bears were referred to as \"Teddy Bears\". This particular bear is Dressed to resemble Roosevelt as well. It is a collectible Limited-Edition item that pays homage to the previous President and Teddy Bears alike, making it a unique addition to any collection of animal-themed merchandise.
