Female Bust – Solid Hardwood (7 lbs 3.6 oz)
Up for sale is a striking, vintage mid-century hand-carved African female bust sculpture. This unique piece features beautifully detailed, textured braided hair and elegant facial features.
Key Features:
• Authentic Craftsmanship: This is a true artisan piece, entirely hand-carved from a single block of wood. The base clearly displays original tool marks and rough textures confirming its handmade nature.
• Incredibly Heavy & Solid: Weighing in at an impressive 7 pounds and 3.6 ounces, this sculpture is carved from a highly dense, premium tropical hardwood (likely ebony or ironwood). It is not hollow and it is not a cheap resin reproduction.
Condition Details (Please Read & See Photos):
• Natural Stress Split: There is a significant, deep vertical age crack running down the left side of the back (visible in photos). This is a natural occurrence caused by the dense wood drying and contracting over time. It does not affect how the piece displays from the front or sides.
• Surface Wear: Displays some lighter, dry patches on the hair and right shoulder due to age.
This is an exceptional, hefty statement piece perfect for collectors of ethnographic art, global decor, or mid-century modern aesthetics.
Item will be packed with extra care and heavy cushioning to ensure safe transit.
