A beautiful vintage Cross 12KT gold-filled ballpoint pen and mechanical pencil set, featuring classic vertically lined barrels and a distinctive blue enamel Rhode Island anchor emblem.
Manufactured by A.T. Cross, a company with deep roots in Rhode Island, these writing instruments have an especially fitting connection to the Ocean State. The gold anchor on a blue shield reflects Rhode Island's historic coat of arms.
Both pieces were discovered together in the same drawer of a Rhode Island estate containing memorabilia associated with the 1985 Senior Citizen Internship Program and Senator John Chafee. No direct association between the writing instruments and Senator Chafee has been established.
Condition
Both instruments show vintage wear, including surface scratches and finish wear. The ballpoint pen writes. The mechanical pencil needs lead and has not been fully tested. The Rhode Island enamel emblem shows some wear. No original box.
