Detailed Description:
Up for sale is an authentic, vintage 48-star American flag, most likely dating from the WWII era. This is a beautiful piece of historical Americana, featuring individual fully-sewn applique stars rather than printed ones, showing high-quality period construction.
The flag measures 66 inches long by 42 inches wide. The heavy canvas header features robust brass grommets and holds a faint, unreadable blue ink manufacturer stamp/depot marking, typical of period-issued pieces.
Condition Report:
This flag is in good, solid vintage condition with an incredible natural patina. It displays authentic signs of age and historical use, including minor fabric staining, mild uniform discoloration, and light fraying on the fly-end corners (please see detailed photos). The structural integrity remains strong, making it an excellent candidate for framing or hanging flat as a statement display piece.
