Vintage 1993 IBEW Commemorative Keychain Opener
Metro Electrical Training Trust — 30 Year Anniversary (1963 - 1993) Portland, OR
Overview
For sale is a genuine vintage commemorative advertising pocket keychain and functional bottle opener issued in 1993 to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of the Metro Electrical Training Trust in Portland, Oregon. The vibrant royal blue molded resin body features sharp white screen-printed graphics displaying the official joint organizational seal alongside the nested insignias of both the I.B.E.W. (International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers) and N.E.C.A. (National Electrical Contractors Association).
It features a sturdy metal ring for keys on one end, and a bottle cap lifter on the other. Unlike standard flimsy promotional plastic novelties, this pocket tool is constructed with a heavy-duty steel plate claw insert embedded directly into the lower channel mouth of the resin frame, providing solid leverage without stressing the plastic body. The lateral edge reveals factory-molded manufacturer information from Evans Manufacturing Co. out of Santa Ana, California alongside the official production patent number 4,264,898.
Provenance & Backstory
This item was acquired back in 1993 by my late father, a proud career IBEW union journeyman electrician and local electrical inspector based out of Portland, Oregon. Kept clean and preserved within his collection of trade keepsakes for over thirty years, this item is a fantastic historical piece of Pacific Northwest organized labor heritage, perfect for union brothers, trade historians, or specialized pocket tool collectors.

The embedded steel claw plate is bright and completely free of oxidation or distortion, indicating that it was never used. The silver metal key ring maintains tight original factory spring tension.
