All vintage electronics sold as-is due to age! Product Details:Vintage Arvin Model 8576 portable transistor radio in the highly desirable turquoise color, dating to approximately 1956-1957.Manufactured by Arvin Industries, Inc. of Columbus, Indiana, this early five-transistor AM portable is an excellent example of distinctive mid-century American radio design. The original interior identification label remains present and identifies the radio as Model 8576, chassis 1.41401.The radio features a striking turquoise plastic cabinet, circular tuning dial with metallic trim, gold-tone triangular accent, perforated white speaker grille with an abstract line design, and the classic Arvin Transistor script across the lower front. An especially important detail regarding the speaker grille: the sweeping and intersecting dark lines visible across the white perforated grille are part of the radio\'s original abstract decorative design and should not be mistaken for scratches. Other surviving examples of the Arvin 8576 display this same style of abstract line decoration. The original rear metal clip is also present. With its vivid turquoise cabinet, unusual grille treatment, and unmistakably 1950s styling, this is a particularly attractive example of an early Arvin transistor portable.Testing:The radio was tested and is FUNCTIONAL.It powers on and successfully received several AM radio stations during testing.Multiple stations were clearly received and confirmed. There was also a considerable amount of static/noise during testing, and reception was not consistently clean across the dial. Some stations came through better than others. The radio is therefore represented as working specifically to the extent described: it powers on, produces audio, tunes, and successfully received multiple AM stations during testing, with noticeable static also present.Testing was limited to basic normal operation and station reception. No extended-duration testing, electronic measurements, alignment, component-level testing, internal servicing, or restoration was performed. No representation is made regarding electronic calibration or whether the radio may benefit from future cleaning, adjustment, servicing, or restoration.Reasonable offers welcome, happy to work with buyers.Condition:Very attractive overall vintage cosmetic condition with normal signs of previous use and age.The turquoise plastic cabinet retains excellent visual appeal and presents very nicely overall. The color remains particularly striking, and the radio displays beautifully from the front. The front face is in nice overall condition. The circular tuning dial, metallic trim, gold-tone decorative accent, Arvin branding, and perforated speaker grille are all present. The white perforated speaker grille retains its distinctive abstract dark-line decoration. As noted above, the sweeping and intersecting lines are part of the decorative grille design rather than scratches from use.The grille itself is somewhat loose and can lift/separate slightly from its seated position. It does press/pop back into position. No attempt has been made to permanently secure, glue, or otherwise repair it.The grille and surrounding surfaces may show minor age-related marks, discoloration, surface wear, or other small imperfections consistent with age.The tuning and control knobs are present. The upper-right corner is intact and shows some minor scuffing/wear.The upper-left corner is intact and also shows some minor scuffs and normal surface wear. The lower-right corner appears intact. The lower-left area has a crack along the seam/bottom portion of the plastic cabinet. This damage is specifically disclosed and should be reviewed closely in the photographs. The cabinet overall has scattered scuffs, scratches, marks, and other normal cosmetic wear from previous use and storage. Despite these imperfections, the radio remains in quite nice overall condition and presents very well for its age.The rear metal clip is present and shows visible age-related wear. The original interior paper identification label remains present and reads Arvin Model 8576, chassis 1.41401, Arvin Industries, Inc., Columbus, Indiana, U.S.A. The label itself shows expected age-related discoloration and wear.No attempt has been made to cosmetically restore the cabinet or conceal the noted imperfections. Please review all photographs carefully, particularly the close-up photographs of the speaker grille, lower-left cabinet crack, corners, sides, rear clip, controls, interior, and original identification label. The photographs provide an important part of the overall condition assessment.
