Vintage 1954 120mm T25 Brass Artillery Cartridge Case Trench Art Ashtray
Unusual and substantial vintage trench-art ashtray fashioned from the base of a large 120 mm brass military artillery cartridge case.
Original markings on the underside include “120 MM T25” and “1954,” along with military lot markings. U.S. military ammunition references identify T25 with the brass M109 120 mm cartridge case.
The original cartridge case has been extensively machined and converted into an impressive covered ashtray. The removable circular lid lifts off easily to expose the deep ashtray interior. A 1969 Jamaica coin featuring the Jamaican coat of arms has been incorporated into the center of the lid.
Approximate dimensions:
- 7½\" diameter
- 3½\" overall height
- Removable lid
- Heavy brass construction (weighs close to 17 lb.)
The piece retains its natural patina and oxidation from age, including darkened areas, spotting / surface discoloration, and areas of blue/green verdigris. It has intentionally not been polished, preserving both its aged appearance and the original military markings.
The underside markings are somewhat faint from age and wear but include 120 MM T25, 1954, and additional lot information. Please refer to the close-up photographs for the markings and overall condition.
This is an especially interesting example of post-WWII military trench art and would display well in a militaria, artillery, trench-art or vintage tobacciana collection.
Includes the ashtray and removable lid shown only.
Ships same or next business day.
