Description Original Ford hood ornament from the 1949–1951 “Shoebox” era, showcasing the bold post‑war styling that defined early Fords. Cast in metal with a clear Lucite Mohawk fin. This piece embodies the streamlined optimism of the 1950s. Underside markings “8A‑16850” and “¼‑28” confirm genuine Ford manufacture. Measures a little more than 11 inches long. Chrome shows scattered pitting and age wear, while the Lucite fin retains its shape with light yellowing from time. A true survivor from the dawn of the jet age — perfect for display, restoration, or as a centerpiece in any vintage automotive collection.
We present this piece exactly as it was when acquired. No attempts to clean or polish this item have been made by us. It shows wear as seen in the photos. There is pitting, scuffs & scratches. There are no cracks. We are selling this ornament as-is, for display or for restoration. This will make a fine addition to any home or collection.
The photos are the most important part of the description. Please view all of them carefully before making a decision to place a offer. We will gladly provide additional photos if more are needed. If you have specific questions, please do not hesitate to message us.
