A deeply saturated amethyst flower from Artigas, Uruguay — the source of the richest purple amethyst mined anywhere. Where Brazilian material trends lilac, Artigas runs royal, and this piece sits in the upper band of that grade. What makes it a flower rather than a cluster plate: the crystal coverage doesn't stop at a broken edge. It runs continuously around the entire perimeter, curving over and under a series of rounded lobes in the cavity wall so the piece reads as a rosette from every angle. Only a small fraction of geode material yields this geometry, which is why flowers are pulled and sold separately from ordinary wall plates. The points are small, sharp, and glass-bright. Look closely and each crystal carries its own color gradient — near-clear at the base, saturating abruptly to deep violet at the tip — which is why the face reads darker and richer than the individual crystals actually are. A scalloped white chalcedony collar traces the base of every lobe, edged with a thin line of green celadonite: the cavity's mineral sequence recorded in order, and a signature of genuine Artigas material. The reverse keeps its original weathered basalt rind, the outer skin of the gas bubble this grew inside, 130 million years after the lava cooled around it.It sits stable on its natural base at an upward tilt, presenting the face without a stand. A minor natural fissure runs through the back matrix; the display face is untouched.SpecsSpecies/variety: Quartz var.
