Legendary \"Wizard of Menlo Park\" and American Inventor THOMAS EDISON distinguished 10\" x 7\" vintage matte-finish portrait by Walter Scott Shinn of New York, signed and inscribed in the lower border in fountain pen, “To John Gehring, Thos. A. Edison.”
Walter Scott Shinn\'s striking portraits of Thomas Edison are among the most iconic images of the famous inventor. The prominent New York photographer captured Edison during a series of intimate, detailed photographs – including this image of the famous 1919 seated portrait of the 72-year old inventor that was later adapted into a 1947 United States postage stamp.
The Edison signed portrait has been thoroughly reviewed and CERTIFIED AUTHENTIC BY PSA/DNA EXPERT EXAMINATION, and encapsulated using PSA/DNA\'s proprietary sonically sealed slab technology – your assurance of absolute authenticity. GUARANTEED GENUINE - simply one of the finest EDISON signed photos available on the market.
In good condition, as shown, with typical wear, toning and stains consistent with age, use, handling and display. Image measures appx. 10\" x 7\" inside 13\" x 10\" encapsulate.
NOTE: several examples of \"Newton\'s Ring\" appear on the reverse side of the encapsulate (the rings that look like little air bubbles trapped inside) -- a common, harmless byproduct of the slabbing process of larger items, not affecting the autograph or printedimage.
