AUTHENTIC STEVEN P. JOBS business card from 1984-1985. Provenance appears to tie back to the son of an Apple employee who found these cards at the HQ. I purchased from an estate sale in Ellicott City, Maryland.
Features the iconic six-color rainbow Apple logo with registered trademark symbol, printed in Apple’s signature ITC Garamond typeface on textured card stock. Standard 3.5” x 2” size. This is the card design from the era of the original Macintosh launch, when Jobs led the Macintosh division before his 1985 departure.
Condition: Excellent — clean face, sharp corners, crisp printing. See high-resolution photos for full detail, including macro close-up of the logo showing print texture and card stock grain. Stored in a magnetic, hard case.
Why This Card Dates to 1984–1985
This card can be dated to a narrow window using details printed on the card itself — evidence any collector can independently verify:
- Typeface: The italic Apple Garamond styling was adopted as Apple's corporate typeface in 1984, alongside the Macintosh launch. Earlier Apple cards used the Motter Tektura logotype.
- Rainbow logo: Apple's six-color logo was in use from 1977 to 1998, consistent with the period.
- Address: 20525 Mariani Avenue was Apple's Cupertino headquarters address in this era, predating the Infinite Loop campus (1993).
- Jobs's tenure: Jobs departed Apple in September 1985 and did not return until 1997, by which time this design and logo were retired.
Taken together, these details bracket the card to approximately January 1984 – September 1985.
Printing & Physical Examination
The card is printed in flat offset ink, the standard commercial printing method of the period, on white card stock. Under magnification, the printing shows the characteristics expected of a period offset card:
- No thermographic (raised) lettering
- No modern digital/inkjet dot pattern
- The card stock and printing have been compared against a matching example held at the System Source Computer Museum. Macro photographs of the ink and both card faces are included in this listing so you can examine the printing yourself.
A striking piece of Silicon Valley history from Apple’s most storied period. Displays beautifully framed or in a card holder.
Sold as-is; please review all photos carefully before purchasing. Ships in a rigid protective holder via tracked, insured mail.
