The issue also includes letters and announcements, a review of science-fiction fan publications, and a science-fiction bookshelf department. The cover painting by Earle Bergey illustrates The Time Axis.
Condition: Good. There is a small amount of wear along the edges of the cover, but otherwise this is a solid, complete used copy with good overall presentation. The original pulp construction remains intact.
A particularly appealing issue for collectors of Henry Kuttner, Jack Vance, Golden Age science fiction, and vintage pulp magazines. Please see photos.
Henry Kuttner's The Time Axis sends a group of very different twentieth-century figures into a distant future where they are called upon to confront a threat to the galaxy. The issue supplements Kuttner's novel with Jack Vance's humorous Magnus Ridolph adventure The Sub-Standard Sardines and Alexander M. Phillips's Martian Gesture, described in the magazine as a Hall of Fame classic.
Additional stories by John D. MacDonald, Murray Leinster, R. W. Stockheker, and René Lafayette round out a particularly strong January 1949 science-fiction pulp. E5.
