Stanley Four Square No 5-1/4 size Junior Jack wood plane decal & sweetheart iron:
$75.00

You are offerding on one Stanley Four Square household jack or Junior Jack wood plane as pictured.

This is the same size as a Stanley Number 5-1/4 wood plane.

It is marked with "STANLEY" on the front end, with "STANLEY" and the 4 square logo on the lever cap, and the iron has a faint later style of the STANLEY sweetheart logo (top of heart is flush with the bottom of the rectangle) with "MADE IN USA" below that. The right side of the body has the partial STANLEY FOUR SQUARE decal as shown. There are some owner markings on both sides of the rear handle.

Overall length of the body is about 11-7/16".

The iron is about 1-3/4" in width, and is about 7-1/8" in overall length.

The black painted areas of the body and frog including the painted sides, and the twisted lateral lever, are all proper for this plane. The black finish on the body and frog appears to me to be original but dulled, while the lever cap has clearly been repainted black. The four red squares on the lever cap may be the original finish.

Walter's Stanley Tools book lists the production dates for these planes as 1923 to 1930.

Condition is fair to good to very good, depending on where you are looking. The sole has some scratches and patina (color) and just a few tiny hints of pitting. The sides have some spots of rust showing through the black finish, and there are circular scratches visible under the blade finish on both sides that might be the original machining marks. The majority of the decal is intact as can be seen. The front knob and rear handle are very good other than the owner markings on both sides of the rear handle as noted, they are not broken anywhere, and each has a few scratches and dings. The black finish on the frog has also dulled, and the lateral lever has some rust. The ironand chip breaker have some scattered dirt and rust and light pitting, mostly on the forward facing surfaces. The black finish on the lever cap has been repainted, the red finish in the four squares on the lever cap has dulled, and the lower edge of the lever cap is intact.

Except as noted, there are no cracks or chips or chunks missing from any of the castings, and everything turns or operates properly.

SHIPPING: 5 pounds when boxed, shipped US Postal Service Ground Advantage, insurance and tracking are included. No International shipping.

l sell what I enjoy, and I collect antique woodworking tools andI enjoy photography! The queue is overflowing with tools right now, as they seem to be finding me faster than I can list them. So please keep watching as I have LOTS more to list!

ETHICS IN DESCRIPTIONS: I also buy for my collecting on , and I have been burned too many times by misleading (duh did I forget to mention .......) descriptions, and sales with pictures only of the left side because the right side was trashed. Life is much simpler for me if I disclose what I know or see about an item before you offer, and especially before you receive it in the mail. I come from the handshake school of doing business, and hopefully you are like me and understand what that means. What goes around, comes around.

RETURN POLICY: I believe that if you give honest descriptions, and include enough pictures, you shouldn't need a return policy. However, that doesn't mean that I won't make an occasional mistake. Please offer with the assurance that if I have made an error in my listing, I WILL take care of you.

SHIPPING: I use the US Post Office for everything. If the value is $250 or over, I will always require a delivery confirmation signature, which requires for the buyer and seller protections to be in effect.

INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING: I no longer ship Internationally other than Canada. If you are in Canada, ask for what the shipping would cost, but be prepared for it to be $$$$$.

NEWSLETTER:Every Friday sends out an email with my newsletter featuring 10 of my most interesting new listings. To subscribe, click on the heart symbol that is labeled SAVE SELLER, and that will automatically get you on the mailing list for the newsletters. They are free, and you can unsubscribe at any time.

SELLING OUTSIDE OF : Why would I risk my lengthy good standing with to save you a couple of dollars? Especially when you ask on an email that is sent through the email system which they are reading? Please don't ask, the answer is no.

sales: I won’t end an sale listing early to sell it to you directly. As a buyer, I really dislike going back at the end of an sale to offer, only to discover that the seller had ended the sale early. So I won’t do that for you, or to you.

PACKAGING: Please check my response -- I package well. I understand how disappointing it is to receive a purchase where the seller clearly didn't care about how it was packaged. I work to package everything with lots of protection for it, and I always use a new box or new envelope.

OFFERS: I will always consider an offer, some longer than others. Your best chance of success happens if the item has been listed for a while, your offer is reasonable (to me!), and you are a regular customer.

I am a long-time active member of the PNTC or Pacific Northwest Tool Collectors, and a long distance member of the MWTCA or Mid-West Tool Collectors Association. And once in a while I might turn up at a PAST meeting!

I hope someday I will meet some of you as we trudge the happy road of tool collecting!
