The first thing you notice is the Kraken: a cast iron tsuba with a sea monster\'s head rising from crashing waves in raised relief, set against a vivid deep blue piano-lacquered saya. The blade is hand-forged 1045 high carbon steel, hand sharpened, with a long hi on each side. It arrives sharp, with two mekugi pegs and a certificate of authenticity.

  Suited to light cutting practice such as rolled tatami omote, soft mats and water-filled bottles, where permitted by local law. Not intended for hard targets such as metal, stone or seasoned hardwood. The blade can rust if left wet: wipe it dry after handling and apply a light coat of sword oil before storing.
