Senufo Bird from the Ivory Coast (Côte d\'Ivoire) Africa
One Of A Kind!
Purchased at $3421.25, back in 2006!
Measure approximately: 46\" tall 11\" wide and 13\" deep.
Among the Senufo people of the Over Coast, large sculpted birds play an important role in their ritual and ceremonial life. The large bird serves as a major symbol for the men\'s secret society as Poro during initiations and at funerals for senior members. It was worn balanced on top of the head and was kept in place by bands of native woven cloth held in the dancer\'s hands or tightly held by the legs.
This would be a centerpiece in a collection.
