Up for sale is a vintage SMS handcarved block meerschaum pipe, made in Turkey and presented in its original fitted case.
This substantial bent egg features beautiful lattice-style carving composed of deep teardrop-shaped recesses over a finely textured background. The carving covers most of the bowl, while the smooth rim, heel, and gracefully curved shank provide an attractive contrast.
The amber-pattern stem has a decorative turned profile and retains its inset SMS logo. An old retail price sticker remains attached to the stem.
Condition
This pipe is new old stock and unsmoked. The chamber is clean and uncharred, and the meerschaum remains bright with no developed smoking patina. The stem appears unused and may show only minor handling or storage marks, and retains the original retail sticker.
The original fitted case is included. It shows expected age and storage wear, including some loose threads and minor wear around the edges. As with any vintage NOS item, minor cosmetic signs of long-term storage may be present.
