SCANDINAVIAN SWEDISH NORWEGIAN DANISH FINNISH LUCIA ATTENDANTS ANDSTARBOY CANDLE
St. Lucia’s Day is a festival of lights and is celebratedon December 13. It symbolizes the end ofthe long nights and return of longer days.Imagine all the lights are turned off and then comes a processionbeginning with Lucia dressed in white with a red sash at her waist and candlesin her hair. She is followed byattendants all dressed in white with tinsel in their hair and around theirwaists each holding a candle. They are followedby star boys dressed in white with a cone hat decorated with gold stars andcarrying a star on a pole. As theprocession moves forward, the participants sing traditional songs.
This is the start of the Christmas season and the day when lussekatter, sweet, saffron-flavoredbuns shaped like curled-up cats with raisin eyes, begin to be served.
These Candy Designs brandfigurines are polyresin and hand-painted.
