Offered for the first time ever – genuine handwriting from American Military Officer & Confederate General Robert E. Lee, authenticated and encapsulated by (BAS) Beckett Authentication Services.
Each handwritten word was carefully removed from a handwritten Lee letter, circa 1834-35.
You will not receive a copy of the letter from Lee, the 4th image is shown purely to illustrate where the word(s) came from. You will only receive the BAS encapsulated word, "little", encapsulate #00020260789.
Each encapsulated word was individually removed from Lee’s letter to his solicitor seeking to sell certain household items. At the time, the 28 year old Lee was a First Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, leading an extended survey establishing the contested boundary line between Ohio and Michigan.
Genuine Robert E. Lee autograph documents are exceptionally rare and can fetch thousands of dollars. This encapsulated word offers a rare and affordable opportunity to own an authentic piece of Lee’s handwriting.
The cost of authenticating a single word of Lee’s handwriting is $150 on Beckett's website.
