Ridgway
Indian Boy
Oil on Canvas
8" x 10" (Canvas Size)
Signed lower right
This sensitive Western portrait, titled "Indian Boy" on the verso, is an original oil on canvas painting signed and dated "Ridgway '84". The work depicts a young Native American child in profile, dressed in a vibrant orange shirt and patterned headband. The composition highlights traditional details, including a silver and turquoise bracelet and a beaded necklace. The artist employs a realistic technique with a soft, neutral background that emphasizes the subject's contemplative expression and the rich textures of the foreground.
• Authentically signed and dated "Ridgway '84" in the lower right corner
• Housed in a substantial rustic wood frame with a linen liner, stamped "Hecho en Mexico"
• Provenance includes original label on the reverse dated January 28, 1985
• Frame measures approximately 15.25" x 17.25" overall
Condition: Excellent vintage condition with a stable paint surface and vibrant colors. No evidence of repair or inpainting. The canvas is tight on its stretchers. The frame shows minor surface wear consistent with age but remains structurally sound and appropriate to the style.
