Rare Gebrüder Heubach Bonnet Dog Figurine Antique German Bisque St Bernard
Description
Offered is an exceptionally rare antique Gebrüder Heubach bisque dog figurine, measuring approximately 5 to 5½ inches long and 4 inches high. This charming figure portrays a sweet Saint Bernard (or closely related mountain breed) dressed in an elaborate Victorian bonnet and lace-trimmed cape accented with delicate pale blue ribbons.
Unlike Heubach’s more commonly encountered child figures, bonneted dogs such as this were produced in much smaller numbers and are seldom seen today. The sculpt captures everything collectors love about the firm’s work—remarkable modeling, expressive hand-painted features, and a personality that seems almost human.
The puppy’s soulful eyes, slightly drooping jowls, and gentle expression immediately draw attention. The finely textured bonnet and floral cape display excellent molded detail, while the soft blue ribbon accents add a beautiful touch of color. A single brown spot on the dog’s side further enhances the naturalistic appearance.
The underside retains the impressed Gebrüder Heubach sunburst trademark along with the red “Made in Germany” export stamp, dating the figure to the early twentieth century, approximately 1900–1915.
Condition is very good antique condition. I do not find any chips, cracks, or repairs. There is light age-related wear, minor paint wear to the paw details, and typical light surface soiling from age and display. Please examine all photographs carefully, as they are part of the description.
