Very Scarce Excavated Civil War Steel Hoe/Shovel/Tool, Foundin the Petersburg, Va. Trench/Battle Area
DESCRIPTION:Very unusual original dug/excavated large steel hoe/tool Standard . Still has the remnants of the part that held the wooden shaft, attached to the flat steel blade. Very thin blade, about 1/16\" thick. Blade measres about 9 1/2\" x 6 1/2\". Rust has taken part of the edge, as shown, but mostly there. Surprising that any of it remains, with such a thin blade!
Nice tool that would have been actively used to dig trenches and artillery emplacements, etc.
Found near the battle and trench area of Petersburg, Va.. Found on private land with owner\'s permission.
A scarce piece, and a very nice, unusual item to add to ANY CIVIL WAR CAMP, OR RELIC COLLECTION OR DISPLAY.
