Rare original set of three antique Dutchess Knickerbockers cardboard advertising price cards, dating approximately to the 1910s–early 1920s. Each card features a different illustrated boy above the Dutchess Knickerbockers branding and the company\'s well-known guarantee: “10¢ a Button 50¢ a Rip” The blank area following the printed $ was intended for the retailer to add the selling price. These would have been used as small in-store advertising/display pieces for Dutchess boys\' knickerbockers.
All three feature different portrait designs and have remained together as a matching group. These specific die-cut cards appear to be extremely rare, with very few comparable examples of this format surviving.
Dutchess Manufacturing Company was based in Poughkeepsie, New York and was known nationally for its unusual trouser guarantee advertising.
Sold as the complete lot of 3 shown.
Each card measures approximately:
5\" L x 3\" W
