Incredibley Rare 17th-century Scottish pewter broad-rim serving charger 18 inches in diameter. This monumental piece of historic "sadware" features the maker's touchmark of Edinburgh master pewterer David Inglis on the reverse
Pseudo-Hallmarks (Front Rim): The front rim bears three distinct shield-shaped punches struck to simulate English silver hallmarks. This grouping includes a finely detailed lion's face with a full mane (the London Worshipful Company style) and a matching master "DI" initial shield. Front-rim stamping was legally restricted in the early 18th century, confirming an early production date between 1680 and 1710.
Maker's Touchmark (Reverse): Features the uppercase initials "D I" stacked above a distinct heraldic bird standing on a horizontal perch, contained within a classic beaded circular outline. This confirms production by David Inglis of Edinburgh, Scotland, who was active during the late 17th century (circa 1670–1700).
