REAL PHOTO POSTCARD: Startling, graphic very sharp image of sheriff/posse surrounding Mike Malone, accused of murdering two men for money. Malone sits uncomfortably on the ground with a rope around his neck as members of the town/posse point guns at him. Attached printout from the 'Pierre (S.D.) Weekly Free Press, 6/17/1909' reviews in detail the whole background/story, Assuming the man in left foreground facing camera is a sheriff/law enforcement agent responsible for the capture, he does not display a badge or is otherwise identified. Town buildings are visible background and image was most likely taken when the posse returned to Cottonwood. Signed on face by noted Dakota photographer, Ricard. Postmarked 3/5/1910 from Quinn, S.D. Included in the illustrations is an invert view in blue of the postmark for better viewing. Card has a tiny margin tear at top left, with a short crescent crease below it. Card evidences at close review some small fly specks and tiny spots of abrasion. Condition is Very Good.
