An incredibly rare, vintage Japanese figural pouring pot shaped like an octopus!Acquired locally in Sapporo, Japan (not an export) in the 1970s.This whimsical piece of folk art is designed so that one tentacle forms the pouring spout and another forms the handle. The octopus is hand-painted wearing a white and blue polka-dot hachimaki (a traditional Japanese festival headband). Finding these specific novelty pieces intact today is highly uncommon, making this a fantastic display piece for a bar cart, tiki collection, or lover of vintage Japanese ceramics.CONDITION: Excellent condition. No chips or cracks or paint wear.
