VINTAGE ORIGINAL COMIC ART SPANNING SIX DECADES OF HISTORY
Offered together as one remarkable four-piece collection of original and vintage comic-style artwork dating from 1916 through 1976.
HIGHLIGHTS INCLUDE:
• Two original pencil superhero drawings signed and dated “Mike Roberts ’67.” Roberts is a documented underground and independent comic creator whose published credits include artwork for Death Rattle and later professional comic-book penciling and inking assignments.
• One vintage color character illustration signed “Lundy,” mounted on an archival sheet bearing the notation “Chicago Herald — 1916.” This century-old piece depicts a formally dressed gentleman with top hat, cane and cigar.
• One dynamic superhero illustration signed “M. Wheatley ’76,” featuring a costumed hero apparently being struck or controlled by a mysterious device. The artwork incorporates strong black ink, detailed linework and printed-tone effects.
All four pieces display the genuine age, handling, toning and production characteristics expected of vintage artwork. They are being sold exactly as photographed. No claim is made that the Wheatley artwork is by comic artist Mark Wheatley unless independently confirmed; it is described according to the signature visible on the piece.
