RARE Antique Unger Bros Sterling Silver Vesta Match Safe Art Nouveau Wave Nymph
Antique Unger Bros Sterling Silver Vesta Match Safe Art Nouveau Wave Nymph
Up for sale is an incredibly crisp, authentic Art Nouveau sterling silver vesta case / match safe manufactured by the legendary silversmith firm Unger Brothers of Newark, New Jersey, circa 1902. The front of the case features their iconic and highly sought-after high-relief repousse design known to collectors as the \"Wave\" pattern. It depicts a beautiful nude water nymph floating gracefully among dramatic, swirling ocean waves. The detail remains remarkably sharp, deep, and well-defined. The reverse features an elegant, beautifully hand-engraved, interlocking script monogram with the initials WGW. The inner lip is clearly stamped with the official intertwined UB manufacturer logo alongside the text STERLING 925 FINE.
Condition:
Excellent untouched antique condition. This piece is being sold completely uncleaned and features a gorgeous, deep original dark patina/tarnish in the recessed areas. This natural oxidation provides an incredible 3D contrast that makes the high-relief artwork pop beautifully—a highly desirable state for serious silver collectors. The hinge remains perfectly tight, strong, and snaps shut securely with a satisfying pop. There are no heavy dents or deep scratches.
Shipping & Handling:
Shipped securely with tracking, careful protective packaging.
