Rose-Shaped Beads: The Hail Mary
eads are uniquely stylized as detailed, three-dimensional silver-tone metal rosebuds.
• Papal Centerpiece: The rectangular metal centerpiece features a side profile portrait of Pope John Paul II.
• Papal Crucifix: The crucifix is designed after the iconic Papal Pastoral Staff (Ferula) carried by John Paul Il during his pontificate. The Four Basilica Medals: The newly visible octagonal connectors prominently display detailed engravings of the four major Papal Basilicas of Rome: St. Peter's, St. Paul Outside the Walls, St. John Lateran, and St. Mary Major. The Crossed Keys of Saint Peter:
The gold and silver keys crossed behind the central shield represent the spiritual and temporal authority of the Papacy.
• The Papal Miter: Located directly above the shield, replacing the traditional tiered papal tiara.
• The Inscribed Shield: The center
shield bears the specific crest configuration minted for this Holy Year 2000 commemorative series.
