This listing is for aPhilco Model 49-605 Portable Vacuum Tube Radio manufactured during 1948-1949.which when restored will fit in nicely in a antique radio collection. All parts on this vintage radio receiver appear to be original except three hardware screws and one standoff foot at the bottom of the case and the 120-volt line cord. Of the three screws that were missing, one supported the speaker to the chassis frame, and the other two screws supported the chassis frame to the case. I did not have the same type of hardware to match existing hardware; however, I installed the three missing screws with the same thread type for proper supporting of the speaker and chassis for shipment. The power cord was deteriorated to a point that copper was showing so I replaced it for safety reasons. Someone installed a screw with a rubber gromet around it to replace a missing standoff foot. There is a ding in the speaker grill around 2 o\'clock which is hard to see in the photos that can be pushed out by removing the grill during the restoration. I left it installed. I brought the AC power up slowly via a variac. I believe the radio will operate just fine after the capacitors and out of tolerance resistors are replaced. All the tubes appeared to be operating. There was a heavy 60 cycle hum as expected and the audio and RF stages appeared to be operating just fine. There was plenty of audio and I heard a couple of AM radio stations mixed in with the 60-cycle hum. I did not notice any cracks in the case. The radio has some light scratches and light scuff marks typical for a radio around 87 years old as seen in the photos. Both knobs appear to be original. No issues were noted with the operation of the dial string and dial pointer. The speaker is in great condition. This model Philco radio is a good candidate for a radio restoration. Only what is shown in the photos will be provided with this listing. Because of this items age I am listing this item AS-IS for parts or restoration with no returns. Please review all the photos and ask questions if needed prior to offerding. This listing is for the lower US 48 states only.
