Up for sale is a beautiful, authentic vintage pair of German folk art composite/chalkware figurines crafted by the famous Marolin company in Steinach, Germany.
This set includes two beautifully hand-painted figures depicting traditional 19th-century regional German attire:
1. A traveling folk musician playing a guitar / lute instrument.
2. A lady in a traditional bonnet, holding a small purse.
Authenticity & Markings:
- The reverse lower base of both figures features the raised German copyright text: "Gesetzlich geschützt / Vervielfältigung vorbehalten"
- The interior hollow bases are stamped with the official Marolin "M" shield hallmark crest.
- Incised mold inventory numbers 611 and 63 are stamped into the inner walls.
- Hand-penciled notations under the base by a previous collector identify the style as "Approx c. 1865".
A wonderful addition to any collection of traditional German folk Art.
