DESCRIPTION:
Pre-Columbian Teotihuacan terracotta articulated doll or figurine, attributed to ca. 700–1200 AD.
This unusual ceramic figure features an articulated construction, with separately formed components designed to allow movement. The piece represents an interesting example of Mesoamerican figurative ceramic work and provides insight into the variety of small-scale objects produced for ceremonial, symbolic, or possibly recreational purposes.
Hand-modeled in terracotta, the figure displays characteristic surface variations, deposits, and signs of age that contribute to its archaeological appearance.
