In 1995 I started PEZ Collectors News. One of the first things I did was talk with PEZident Scott McWhinnie.
In March 1996 I sat down with Mr. McWhinnie and he gave me a personal tour of the PEZ factory. At that time it was unheard of anyone collector inside the factory floor. We wore these hats while on the factory floor. As you can see in the picture Scott McWhinnie is autographing a newsletter for me. One of these style hats is on the right side of the picture. It was an employee only item. This picture was printed in a 1996 PCN newsletter where I talked about the visit.I've had a couple tours around that time where I was given this style hat, before 2000. I have a couple other of these hats in my collection. I figured it would be a good time to part with one of these hats and have another collector enjoy this rare item.
The hat has been stored away in a non smoking home in a closet for years. As I said it was worn once only to walk through the PEZ factory floor in Orange CT.
In all my years I haven't seen any of these hats for sale and most likely you will never see another for sale.Shipping cost includes insurance because the hat cant be replaced. *********************Are you a member of the PEZ Collecting Club?
