Imperial Beach Police Department (San Diego County, California) - Rare Unissued "Cut Edge" Shoulder Patch
Offered here is an early high grade quality, original shoulder patch from the Imperial Beach Police Department, a Southern California agency that was disbanded in March 1983.
Collector Grade / Never Sewn:
This patch is in unissued, original condition. It has never been sewn onto a uniform, nor has it ever been laundered or pinned. The reverse shows the clean, white cheesecloth/buckram backing with no glue residue, thread remnants, or mounting marks. The front remains crisp with sharp embroidery.
Construction & Dating:
• Edge Type: Early "Cut Edge" (Pre-merrowed era).
• Backing: Stiff buckram/cheesecloth construction.
• Estimated Date: Late 1956 to 1970.
Because the department was only active for 27 years, finding a first-generation "cut edge" variant that was never used is exceptionally rare. Most surviving examples from this era were removed from uniforms and show stitch holes or wear; this specimen is a prime candidate for a high-end collection or archive.
Shipping:
Ships flat in a reinforced mailer with tracking to ensure the patch is not bent or creased during transit.
