ORIGINAL GOTHIC SKELETON CAT DOG PAINTING SET WHIMSIGOTH SPOOKY SKULL MEMENTO MORI ACRYLICS ON CANVAS 4” x 4”
This beautifully executed pair of acrylic paintings on canvas explore a dark, macabre, yet deeply affectionate theme of eternal companionship. The artwork features a stark, high-contrast black and white color scheme that accentuates the details of the anatomical and animal figures. One mini painting displays a detailed human skeleton tenderly cradling and nuzzling a tabby-striped cat. The other piece in the set is a matching human skeleton embracing a fluffy dog, capturing a sense of enduring loyalty. These expressive paintings contrast crisp white bone structures and deep black backgrounds, giving them a striking, classic gothic aesthetic. The cat canvas has a wonderful graphic quality with very clean, bold linework outlining the ribcage and spine of both figures. The bottom canvas brings in a completely different texture—the stippling and softer, speckled paint strokes give the fur/spine details a more delicate, glowing feel. The artist’s capture of the embraces and the gentle angles of the skulls create an incredibly poignant, emotional mood.
These two textured acrylic paintings will be signed by Kansas artist Christa Taylor before being shipped. These are new, but were glued to rope. I removed from rope and filed off glue residue, which won’t show when hung. They have a cleaner aesthetic being able to be hung vertically or horizontally side by side without the rope. See photos.
