Charming antique glass bottle from Mrs. Stewart's Concentrated Liquid Bluing, manufactured by Luther Ford and Co. of Minneapolis, Minnesota. The label reads 'Four Fl. Oz.' and is dated 'This Label Copyrighted 1940,' placing this bottle squarely in the early 1940s era. The bottle features embossed lettering around the shoulder reading 'MRS. STEWART'S BLUING CO. MINNEAPOLIS,' confirming its authenticity as an original product bottle rather than a reproduction.
The glass is a lovely aqua-teal color with natural period imperfections including small bubbles in the glass and tool marks around the applied double-ring collar finish at the lip, consistent with semi-automatic or early machine-made production of the era. The bottle has a rounded, squat oval body shape that is very appealing for display.
The original paper label survives and is a highlight of this piece, featuring the iconic portrait of Mrs. Stewart in an orange oval medallion, ornate floral graphics, and clear product text. The label shows edge losses, tears at the top, and general aging consistent with 80-plus years, but the central image and text remain highly legible and attractive.
The glass exterior shows surface scratches, mineral deposits, and light haziness from age and use. No chips or cracks noted on the bottle itself. A wonderful piece of American laundry and household product history, great for bottle collectors, advertising collectors, or vintage kitchen and laundry room displays.
