Here\'s a pristine (untouched, museum quality, essentially \"as issued\") 1923 Aeriola Sr. regenerative radio. The set is original, it\'s working, it\'s in perfect condition, and it includes a boxed, brass base tipped WD-11 Radiotron tube with good emissions and all of its original batting materials.
As you can see in the photos, the condition of this example is exceptional, pretty much dead mint. The panel is perfect, with no scratches, no scarring, no dull or muddy areas, and original lettering that\'s crisp and clear everywhere.
Nickel-plated parts are likewise in immaculate condition -- spotless, gleaming . There\'s no rust, no corrosion, no pitting. The binding posts, the panel screws, the screws securing the parts on the underside of the panel to the bakelite -- all of this hardware is still bright and clean.
Inside, the chassis looks like you\'d expect given the condition of the exterior, which is to say \"factory fresh,\" with straight original wiring connecting a full complement of spotless original tuning components.
The cabinet is in excellent condition, and the finish -- smooth as satin -- is wholly original, with no re-amalgamation, no re-coating, no French polishing. All four original feet remain intact on the underside of the base, and both original green felt bumpers are still on the front two corners of the lid\'s interior.These are seldom found on even the cleanest Westinghouse box sets.
The instruction sheet on the underside of the lid is perfect. No stains, no creases, no problems.
Overall, one of the nicest Westinghouse box radio sets I\'ve ever seen -- and, folks, I\'ve seen more than my share of them.
If you want to operate the set, you\'ll need a regulated DC power supply (I\'d recommend an ARBEIII), a longwire outdoor antenna (ham radio type; at least 100 feet long and 20 feet off the ground) and a pair of vintage high impedance headphones. It will also help to have had some experience tuning a 20\'s battery set.
In the video above, for demonstration purposes, the radio is connected to a small 20\'s amplifier and a vintage Burns horn speaker. You are buying on the radio and the boxed WD-11 tube.
