The collection includes The Repentant Sinful Woman, also identified as The Cassiane’s Doxastikon; The Divine Liturgy in English / Axion Estin; and the fourth record in the series, featuring hymns in Greek, Arabic, and English. Across the three records, performances include Greek, English, Arabic, Spanish, and French.
All three records include their corresponding printed sleeves, featuring hymn texts, explanatory notes, and photographs. The fourth record’s sleeve carries a dedication to Metropolitan Antony Bashir in connection with his 1961 silver jubilee.
About the Artist:
Basil Kazan was a Lebanese-born Orthodox priest, chanter, and composer associated with the Antiochian Orthodox tradition. His work helped make Byzantine church music accessible to English-speaking congregations, particularly through his later multivolume Byzantine Project. These recordings document his chanting and his work with the Louisville parish choir.
