Item up for your consideration is a Masters Handicart, a vintage garden utility cart manufactured by the Masters Planter Co. of Benton Harbor, Michigan. These carts are sought-after collector's items, often repurposed today as rustic garden planters or farmhouse decor.
Key Features and History: Manufacturer: Produced by Masters Planter Co., a company with a long history in agricultural tools dating back to the early 1900s.
Design: This specific "Handicart" model features a deep, sloped metal tub and a two-wheel design for stability, distinguishing it from traditional one-wheeled wheelbarrows.
Era: These carts were popular in the mid-1900s, particularly around the 1940s and 1950s.
Distinctive Elements: It typically includes a balanced metal frame, solid rubber or metal tires, and a wooden handle grip.
Current Uses: While originally designed for heavy-duty yard work like hauling soil or mulch, they are now frequently used as decorative planters.
Condition: Collectors value those with their original green paint and "patina," though many vintage examples show rust-through in the bottom of the tub.
This one is still in usable condition or perfect for a decorative garden planter or as always with my items as a prop for stage, cinema or television props (Contact me about prop rental).
