About the Book
The black costume was first published seven months earlier in Amazing Spider-Man #252, Marvel Team-Up #141, and Spectacular Spider-Man #90, but Secret Wars #8 is where Spidey actually gets it in the story. The symbiote goes on to bond with Eddie Brock and becomes Venom in Amazing Spider-Man #300.
Newsstand copies from this era were printed in smaller numbers than direct market editions and are generally tougher to find, especially with white pages.
Issue Overview
“Invasion!” Part 8 of 12. Fed up with getting knocked around by the villains, the heroes take the fight straight to their enemies’ doorstep, leading to one of the biggest hero vs. villain brawls of the era. And along the way, Spider-Man picks up a new costume.

Seller Notes
All graded comics (“slabs”) are the exact items shown in photos.
I am not a professional grader. All raw comics are sold as-is and are described to the best of my ability. Please review photos carefully, as they are of the exact items you will receive. Any visible defects, including spine ticks, corner wear, or foil imperfections, are shown in photos. I make no guarantees of grading outcomes.
Slabbed books (CGC/CBCS) may have minor scuffs, scratches, or display Newton Rings, a rainbow-like effect caused by the case. These are cosmetic only and do not affect the comic’s grade or condition.
If cosmetic case imperfections are a concern, buyers may submit the book to CGC for a reholder service. Please note that reholdering is handled entirely by CGC, and any outcome, such as changes to label designation, grader notes, or grade, is determined solely by CGC’s internal review process.
