The Ukrainian Police was a law enforcement agency that operated from 1991 to 2015. It continued the work of the Soviet police after the declaration of independence of Ukraine. The main task of the police was to maintain public order, fight crime, and protect the rights and freedoms of citizens.
The structure of the police included various units, including patrol service, search and rescue, traffic police, special forces, and others. Police officers were involved in investigating crimes, ensuring road safety, protecting public events, and performing other tasks.
In 2015, the police were reformed, and the National Police of Ukraine took its place. This was part of a general reform of the law enforcement system aimed at increasing public trust and improving the efficiency of law enforcement officers.
