Vintage solid wood "Boite Nature" cigar box stamped "Laskin & Kornfeld's SPECIAL SELECTION" on the exterior and interior lid, marked "Staples" on the front, and labeled "BOITE NATURE" on both side panels. Features traditional finger-jointed corner construction and dual rear metal hinges. The underside bears factory marks for Factory No. 63, 3rd District, State of New York along with the complete printed federal tax notice. The box retains a partial green Series 50 Class C U.S. Internal Revenue tax stamp and comes equipped with an authentic front sliding metal latch that works smoothly and fastens securely.
Box shows shelf wear, light surface abrasions, corner edge dings, natural wood grain variation, and pencil/grease marks on the bottom underside. Metal hinges and front slide latch show aged patina and oxidation, but the hardware latch works perfectly and catches securely. The original paper tax stamp is torn and partially missing. Interior is clean and structurally solid. Please see photos for full cosmetic condition.
Please refer to the photos for exact measurements.
An authentic, well-preserved piece of early New York tobacciana featuring crisp typography, intact factory markings, and perfectly functional vintage hardware.
