Big polished lapis lazuli freeform from Pakistan, standing 15 cm tall and weighing well over a kilo. Islands and streaks of ultramarine lazurite run diagonally through a pale calcite-and-marble host rock, with pyrite flecks scattered throughout that glint when turned in the light. The full-piece polish brings out the contrast between the vivid blue and the granular cream background, and the gentle S-curve shape gives it a sculptural, almost carved-figure profile from the side. Under UV light the calcite fluoresces salmon-orange in bands that follow the original rock layering, while the lazurite stays dark, revealing the geology beneath the color. A statement piece for a shelf, mantel, or collection of lapis in its natural mixed form rather than the sorted, solid-blue trade grade.
