Capture Yesterdays\' Memories Title
LaLiberte's Fur Parlor, c1890, Quebec, Quebec
The stereoview features several pieces of text. On the left side of the card mount, printed vertically, is "Keystone View Company, Manufacturers and Publishers". On the right side, also printed vertically, it reads "Meadville, Pa. St Louis, Mo. Copyright, 1899, by B. L. Singley." Along the bottom edge, below the stereoscopic images, is the caption: "9460—LaLiberte's Fur Parlor - Finest in the World Quebec, Canada."
The image depicts the interior of a luxurious fur parlor, identified as LaLiberte's in Quebec, Canada, copyright 1899. The space is opulently decorated and densely packed with various fur products. Numerous fur coats, stoles, and blankets are draped and hung from the walls and ceiling, creating an impression of abundance. On the floor, several taxidermied animals are displayed, most notably a large tiger rug in the foreground with its mouth open, showcasing its formidable teeth. Smaller taxidermied animals, possibly foxes or weasels, stand on pedestals and are arranged on the floor, adding to the exotic and high-end atmosphere of the establishment. This scene provides a glimpse into the late 19th-century luxury goods market and the prevalent use of animal furs for fashion and home decor during that era.
On the reverse side of the card, there are two faint handwritten marks. In the top left corner, the word "dip" is written in cursive. In the top right corner, a single letter "S" is faintly marked. These appear to be inventory or personal markings rather than a traditional handwritten message or correspondence.
