A HANDCRAFTED ITALIAN ART TAROT BY OSVALDO MENEGAZZI
La Fortuna, associated with Menegazzi\'s 22 Insetti in 22 Arcani project, is an extraordinary example of the handmade Tarot art produced by Osvaldo Menegazzi through Il Meneghello in Milan.
Created in 2007, the set interprets the 22 Major Arcana through the imagery of insects, with each insect chosen to reflect characteristics associated with the meaning of its corresponding Arcana. The concept is unusual even within the world of Italian artist Tarot, combining Tarot symbolism, natural history, illustration, and traditional handcraft. Specialist Tarot references identify the artwork as detailed colored insect drawings executed in watercolor, pen, and ink.
THE IL MENEGHELLO TRADITION
Osvaldo Menegazzi\'s Il Meneghello workshop in Milan became known for highly individual Tarot works and handmade presentation boxes. Contemporary documentation of the 2007 Insetti in 22 Arcani describes the cards as handcrafted onto substantial cardstock and individually stamped, with the presentation box handmade, signed, and finished with Menegazzi\'s characteristic hot-wax seal. Each set was accompanied by a handwritten, numbered signature card on specialty paper.
This is therefore much more than a commercially printed Tarot deck in a presentation box. The cards, handmade presentation, signature, numbering, wax seal, and accompanying documentation are all part of the collectible work.
THIS PARTICULAR EXAMPLE — 68/250
This example is hand-numbered 68/250 and signed by Osvaldo Menegazzi.
The original signed and numbered material is included, along with the original Il Meneghello presentation letter, Osvaldo Menegazzi\'s business card, handmade production notice, informational materials, and other original accompanying pieces shown in the photographs.
The 68/250 numbering is visible in the original documentation, making the identity of this particular example part of the physical archive that accompanies the deck.
THE HANDMADE PRESENTATION
The presentation box is an important part of the work itself. It features the distinctive green and richly patterned red construction, the insect artwork, decorated interior, and original Il Meneghello wax seal.
The box, cards, signature material, printed documentation, and accompanying pieces have remained together as a complete collector\'s presentation.
THE 22 INSECTS / 22 ARCANA
The deck consists of 22 cards corresponding to the 22 Major Arcana, with insects serving as the central artistic and symbolic language.
Menegazzi\'s approach is particularly imaginative. Contemporary documentation of the work notes, for example, a spider for the Hanged One, a firefly for the Star, a praying mantis for the Devil, and a scorpion for Death. Rather than simply illustrating conventional Tarot scenes, the deck finds symbolic connections between the characteristics of individual insects and the meanings of the Major Arcana.
The result is a fascinating meeting of Tarot, natural history, Italian illustration, and handmade book arts.
CONDITION
This example is exceptionally well preserved.
The cards are clean, crisp, and show no significant wear. The original presentation box is intact and retains its original wax seal. There are no missing cards or known damage to the set.

Please examine all photographs carefully. They are an important part of the description and document the actual condition, contents, numbering, signature, handmade box, wax seal, cards, and original materials included with this example.
A SPECIALIZED COLLECTOR\'S PIECE

Specialist Tarot references specifically document 22 Insetti in 22 Arcani as a 2007 Menegazzi work based on detailed insect drawings and note that only a small number of the handmade boxes were produced.
