Kathrine Tingley Historic Hand Written Photo Greeting Card To Loma Land Artists including Maurice Braun.
This is a Historic Point Loma San Diego “Loma Land” artifact.
—If you’re familiar with San Diego history, you will understand why this is a significant one of a kind local artifact. you may also be familiar with the exhibit at the San Diego History Center focusing on Loma Land, the theosophical society of Point Loma.
—The San Diego History Center displays two large carved wood doors saved from one of the primary buildings of Loma Land as well as paintings of the property.
They also display artwork by Maurice Braun, who was very much involved in Loma Land and the Theosophical society’s artist colony.

—This 1901 new-years greeting card with photo was prepared / hand written by Kathrine Tingley at Loma Land for the artists studio and was kept in an album by Maurice Braun.
—The card was acquired with the album by Naomi Ritz. Widow of Harry Ritz, the youngest of the famous Ritz brothers.
Naomi kept this greeting card long term until I purchased it while talking to Naomi in the Mission Gallery Antique Store.
We spoke about the history/provenance and I had her write some things down.
Naomi had it mounted/framed in a Chula Vista framing shop.
———The new years greeting reads as follows:
1901 New Years Homestead Greetings,, To the artisans who have left here a lasting impression in wood and mortar. ,, Our working men are the bone and sinew of our civilization. ,,
Universal brotherhood Organization ,, Point Loma, Cal. Katherine Tingley.
——The card will not be removed from the frame. It is sold as you see it.
Provenance is attached to the back of the frame in a plastic sleeve and envelope.
Again, The provenance is hand written by Naomi Ritz and mentions the album it had been in and how she came to acquire it all before selling it to me.
