Josephine Baker and La Revue Negre features Paul Colin's stunning lithographs of Le Tumulte Noir in Paris, 1927. This 1998 first edition elephant folio book from Harry N. Abrams reproduces the look and feel of Colin's Art Deco masterwork in a large format, capturing the vibrant energy of the Jazz Age and African-American performers in 1920s Paris. The volume includes all forty-five lithographs, the original preface by Rip, and Baker's own handwritten commentary, supplemented by an insightful introduction by scholars Henry Louis Gates, Jr. and Karen C. C. Dalton. A significant piece of Black history and graphic art, this collection serves as a vivid tribute to the woman who captured the hearts of a generation. Printed and bound in Japan.
